Blakethechemist started out in the SF Bay Area as a kid who loved chemistry, piano, dancing and costumes. Born a fraternal twin, “Christopher Blake Costello”, Blake played piano and drums at home with his brother, Aidan. The family chipped in to purchase a Roland synthesizer for Blake. In high school, he started a band with frontman songwriter, talented theremin player of the band, “Table”, and formed another high school rock band called, “Blake & the Chemists”. The bands practiced daily in a class called “Performance Workshop”. This class and the music instructors produced many talented performers who have gone on to become professional musicians. Leading up to the glory of being on stage with his schoolmates, Blake also performed as an actor and dancer in the Bay Area, took private classical and jazz piano lessons since age six, and traveled in California with an award winning, co-ed vocal choir group lead by award winning music teacher, Susie Martone.

Blakethechemist now brings original EDM producer sets to the clubs, showcasing his background in jazz, classical piano, flute, and dance. On stage regularly since age seven, Blake is an experienced performer and guaranteed to show and keep the dance floor happy. Blakethechemist most recently toured the West Coast and Colorado in 2024. He has performed his original EDM music producer sets at clubs in the SF Bay Area, where he also studied DJing and Pro Tools with Blue Bear School of Music, before attending professional music production school in Los Angeles.

An award-winning, songwriter and graduate of ICON Collective, Burbank (made famous by NGHTMRE, JAUZ, Sippy and others in the EDM Festival world) Blakethechemist has amassed a dedicated, cult following of thousands. His award winning remix of UK Dance Charting duo, Piri & Tommy’s “Lovergirl”, an ICON collab winning “Best EP & Best Songwriting” for their work on “In the End” EP, and working with Platinum & Grammy Award winning Producer LATROIT, were highlights of the chemist’s first year in Los Angeles.
